Local Students Awarded Recognition by ICF at St. Bede

Four La Cañada Flintridge students were presented awards as recognition for student excellence by the Italian Catholic Branch 374 at St. Bede the Venerable Roman Catholic Church at ICF’s monthly general meeting.

Giancarlo Orlando, a graduate of St. Francis High School, received a branch $400 scholarship awarded by the Central Council of ICF. He is a graduate of St. Bede School and a graduate of St. Francis High School. He will be attending the USC Marshall School of Business at the University of California in Los Angeles.

Three winners of the Father Lawrence Signey Essay Contest were also presented with awards for their excellent essays about the value of their Catholic education. Eighth grader Emily Cupo was awarded $250 as a first prize, and Andrew Kowalski and Katie DeRose were runners up and received $100 each. Cupo will be attending Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy. Kowalski will attend St. Francis High School and DeRose will be attending La Salle Academy in Sierra Madre.
