Kiwanis Club Hosts Clergy Recognition Day

On Wednesday, June 27, Kiwanis of La Cañada will be hosting Clergy Recognition Day honoring Rev. Kyle Sears of the La Cañada Congregational Church.

Sears was born in rural East Texas, one of five boys raised by a single mother. He is a graduate of Baylor University with a degree in sociology, and a recent graduate of Fuller Theological Seminary with a Master of Divinity degree.

Next summer, Sears will celebrate 20 years of marriage to his wife Erika. Together, they have three children: Kylie (a ninth grader at LCHS), Kathryn (a sixth grader at PCR), and Yoseb (a second grader at PCR). This summer, Sears’ family will be traveling to Seoul, South Korea to visit Yoseb’s foster mother and experience his home country.

Sears spent the early part of his ministry as a church planter, starting churches in Dallas and Austin. He moved to Pasadena five years ago and fell in love with life in Southern California. He has served La Cañada Congregational Church since 2016.

In his free time, Sears enjoys cooking, reading, watching movies, and playing board games and video games.

All are invited to honor Rev. Kyle Sears for his accomplishments and work he has done for the foothill communities. A luncheon takes place at Descanso Gardens Van De Kamp Hall, 1418 Descanso Drive, La Cañada. Lunch is free to clergy and faith leaders; $15 for guests. Those who would like to attend, please RSVP by June 25 to Maureen Bond, (818) 488-4332.

Information on the club, its service and meeting times is available at the website http://www.lacanadakiwanis.org. The club meets every Wednesday at noon at Descanso Gardens and new members are always welcome.
