This Week at LCIF

All are invited to Lutheran Church in the Foothills on Sunday, Sept. 15 at 9 a.m. for a time of education for all ages. Family worship time begins at 10 a.m. Children, Youth and Family director Stephen Robertson will lead the service with a sermon titled “G.P.S.: Grace, Prayer, and Service.” All are welcome!

Bible Study for Women

Restored by His Grace is a ministry that provides a safe place for women to heal from the wounds caused by pregnancy losses by miscarriage and/or abortion. ‘Creative Bible Journaling’ Class Open to Community

A free class combining faith, fellowship and the visual arts returns to La Crescenta Presbyterian Church this fall. Creative Bible Journaling will be offered on the following Wednesday evenings – Oct. 2, Nov. 6 and Dec. 4 – as part of the church’s praise and education for adults and kids (PEAK) program.

Each journaling class centers around a spiritual theme, introduced by an instructor. Participants then create their own artwork to express their faith in a highly personal way. All supplies are provided, and no art experience is required. The class attracts a diverse lot, men and women from age 16 into their 80s.

The free one-hour PEAK classes begin at 6:30 p.m. Come early for a delicious and nutritious meal beginning at 5:45 p.m. Cost for the dinner is $3 for adults and $2 for children sixth grade or younger.

Center for Spiritual Living (CSL) Announces Networking and Open House Event

The Center for Spiritual Living-La Crescenta is having its first annual networking and open house event on Saturday, Sept. 14 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Business professionals of diverse backgrounds and the general public are invited to this free event hosted by Myrna Perez and Laney Clevenger.

This is an opportunity for business owners to promote their business, connect with other business professionals, receive referrals and gain a variety of opportunities. This is not only for business owners, but also is an opportunity for those who would like to explore what businesses, services, and products are available in their community. In addition, the event will have information available about the Center for Spiritual Living and its events, special events, classes and opportunities and the chance to tour the premises.

All are invited. Light refreshments.

Violin Chamber Concert at La Crescenta Presbyterian

The community is invited to a free chamber music concert on Sunday, Sept. 15, at 6:30 p.m. at La Crescenta Presbyterian Church. The concert will feature sonatas by Strauss, Janácek and Ravel performed by violinist Jin-Shan Dai, a member of the Los Angeles Philharmonic, and pianist Jennie Jung, who is on the music faculty at Pomona College. There is no charge for admission. A free-will offering will be taken to support missions in the Dominican Republic.

Walk and Word

Spend time Sunday mornings discovering Scripture while hiking Deukmejian Park. Participants meet at 8 a.m. at the parking lot (3429 Markridge Road, La Crescenta) on all but the first Sunday of each month.

Hike for an hour, then journal and share for an hour about a selection of Scripture. All are invited who feel drawn to this alternative spiritual activity under the guidance of CV United Methodist Church lay minister Jeanne Lavieri.

For those interested but unable to hike, several picnic tables with wheelchair access are available.
