Empty Bowls at CV United Methodist
Crescenta Valley United Methodist Church is hosting an Empty Bowls event from 4:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 11.

Empty Bowls has raised over $35,000 for hunger relief over the last six years. Bowls have been created by friends and members of CVUMC at Creative Arts Group in Sierra Madre and by Mike Flower, ceramics teacher at CV High School. Several local restaurants have agreed to donate gallons of soup to fill those bowls. The cost is a $15 donation. The proceeds will support organizations working to relieve hunger. Live music will be led by CVUMC’s director of music Barb Catlin.

Crescenta Valley United Methodist Church is located at 2700 Montrose Ave. in Montrose.

Special Events at Center for Spiritual Living
Precious metal clay classes are on the following Saturdays at the Center for Spiritual Living-La Crescenta from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.: Oct. 11, Oct. 25 and Nov. 8. The cost is $150 and payment plan is available.

On Friday, Oct. 10 at 7 p.m., spiritual movie night hosts “The Power of Forgiveness.” A love donation will be collected.

On Wednesday, Oct. 15 at 7 p.m., Sifu Dan from Dari Rulai Temple will share the benefits of meditation. A love donation will be collected.

On Sunday, Oct. 19 from noon to 3 p.m. Sister Joan Marie Sasse is back!

$30 donation.

Flea Market Fundraiser
The community is invited to a fun family event! St. Luke’s Anglican Church is holding a flea market fundraiser on Oct. 18 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Furniture, home goods, children’s items, and more will be featured. There will also be a bake sale. Proceeds benefit the St. Anglican Building to Serve capital campaign.

The flea market will take place in the parking lot behind 3901 Foothill Blvd., La Crescenta (corner of Foothill and Moore). Cash and credit cards accepted.

Caesura Youth Orchestra Presented
On Sunday, Nov. 9, at 7 p.m., the La Sierra University Orchestra will present Dvorak’s Symphony 9 “New World” to benefit the launch of the new Caesura Youth Orchestra.

Directed by Dean Anderson, the orchestra will also perform selections from their CD “The Cross (Hymn Medley),” “All Glory Laud and Honor” and “It Is Well.”

The concert will be held at Glendale City Seventh-day Adventist Church, 610 E. California Ave.,
Glendale.

Tours, Craft Faire at LC Congregational
The oldest church in the Crescenta Valley, La Cañada Congregational Church (formerly Church of the Lighted Window), is opening its doors to the public for guided tours on Saturday, Nov. 15 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The church has been designated as an historical landmark and just celebrated its 117th birthday. Docents who are knowledgeable about its long history will lead the tours during the craft faire.

The tours are held in conjunction with the church’s Annual Art and Craft Faire that is on Saturday, Nov. 15 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday, Nov. 16 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Don’t miss out on this chance to experience the beauty and learn the interesting history of the church. There is no charge and all are welcome.
