LEGO Challenge at La Crescenta Presbyterian Church
LEGO lovers of all ages are invited to an inter-generational LEGO challenge at La Crescenta Presbyterian Church today, Thursday, Nov. 14 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. The evening will begin with a free meal then teams composed of children, youth and adults will work together to create a Lego Bible scene. Each creation will be showcased over some dessert.
All are invited to participate in this festive event. There is no charge, but RSVPs are appreciated. Those who would like to take part are invited to RSVP to Ashley@lcpc.net by Nov. 11.

Clarinet Choir Concert at La Crescenta Presbyterian Church
The Los Angeles Clarinet Choir will launch its 15th season with a concert on Saturday, Nov. 16 at 7 p.m. at La Crescenta Presbyterian Church. The public is invited to attend the program featuring an arrangement for clarinet choir of Johannes Brahms’ Serenade No. 2 and original works by contemporary composers on themes from Japan, Czechoslovakia, Spain and Africa. The 14 clarinetists in this internationally recognized choir perform on sopranino, soprano, alto, bass, contra-alto and contrabass instruments.
Suggested donation is $15 for adults over 18, with children invited to enjoy the concert at no charge.

This Week at LCIF
All are invited to Lutheran Church in the Foothills on Sunday, Nov. 17 at 9 a.m. for a time of education for all ages. Family worship begins at 10 a.m. This week Children, Youth and Family director Stephen Robertson will lead the service with a sermon titled “Is the Reward Worth It?” After the service, all are invited to the Fellowship Hall for a time of refreshments and conversation.
Make plans now to join Lutheran Church in the Foothills for a Thanksgiving potluck on Wednesday, Nov. 20, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Everyone in the community is invited to bring any dish and come to the Fellowship Hall for a potluck-style dinner. Operation Christmas Child
In November sites in the Crescenta Valley area will be among 5,000 U.S. drop-off locations collecting shoebox gifts for children overseas during Operation Christmas Child’s National Collection Week, Nov. 18-25.
Empty shoeboxes will be filled with toys, school supplies and hygiene items and given to Samaritan’s Purse for delivery. For many of these children, it will be the first gift they have received.
Collections can be made at Community Life Church, 4441 La Crescenta Ave. on Nov. 18 from noon to 2 p.m., Nov. 19-23 from 10 a.m. to noon, Nov. 24 from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. and noon to 4 p.m. and Nov. 25 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and Village Christian Schools, 8930 Village Ave. in Sun Valley from Nov. 18-22 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., Nov. 23 from 10 a.m. to noon and Nov. 25 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Treasure, Crafts and Holiday Sale
Shadow Hills Presbyterian Church will host its annual Treasure, Crafts and Holiday Sale on Saturday, Nov. 23. This event is a fundraiser for the church to support all of its mission projects. The sale will take place from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Early Bird entry is at 7:30 a.m. for a $5 donation.
The handmade gifts, vintage and gently used “good stuff” make excellent teacher, neighbor and hostess gifts. There will be collectables, costume jewelry, china, glassware, etc. … plus lots of gently used and some new Christmas items. The handmade items are made by the Shadow Hills Presbyterian “Church ladies.”

Walk and Word
Spend time Sunday mornings discovering Scripture while hiking Deukmejian Park. Participants meet at 8 a.m. at the parking lot (3429 Markridge Road, La Crescenta) on all but the first Sunday of each month.
Hike for an hour, then journal and share for an hour about a selection of Scripture. All are invited who feel drawn to this alternative spiritual activity under the guidance of CV United Methodist Church lay minister Jeanne Lavieri.
For those interested but unable to hike, several picnic tables with wheelchair access are available.
