The Los Angeles Falcons track and field team has officially launched its 2017 season. Children between the ages of 5 and 15 will compete in events such as sprints, distance running, long jump, high jump, shot put, relays and hurdles.
There are five divisions (based on age as of Dec. 31): Gremlins (ages 5-7), Bantams (8-9), Midgets (10-11), Youth (12-13), and Intermediates (14-15). Competition will take place throughout San Fernando Valley and locally.
Falcon head coach Pablo Carlos founded the team in 1994.
Registration and orientation will be Jan. 28 at 10:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. at Crescenta Valley High School in La Crescenta (inside the gate of the track).
Registration fee is $155, which includes a team uniform, ribbons, awards, invitational fees, team photo, training and lots of fun. Practices will be held at Crescenta High on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. The season begins on Feb. 20 and concludes in May. Registration will remain open until Feb. 28.
