The Falcon girls’ soccer team is in Simi Valley today at Royal High School for its first-round playoff game in the CIF Southern Section’s Division III. Game time is set for 5 p.m.
The Falcons (16-4-1) had another successful season, but once again came up short in their quest for a Pacific League championship. They finished second at 11-2-1, behind first-place Arcadia. Royal was 14-5-3 and was second in the Coastal Canyon League.
Crescenta Valley was led all season by forward Brianna McReynolds, a sophomore, who racked up 30 goals and 12 assists, far away the best offensive output on the team. Nikki Collins was next with seven goals and seven assists.
If the Falcons win tonight, they will play in the second round game on Tuesday, Feb. 21 against either Serrano High School or Knight High School.
For the Falcon boys’ team, they will play their first-round Division III game Friday at home against Camarillo High School at 3 p.m.
Head Coach Grant Clark’s team was 18-3-4, and 9-1-4 in the Pacific League, and was second in league behind Burroughs. Henry Barkhordarian led the team with 20 goals to go along with 11 assists. Jonathan Han had 15 and 10 assists, and Dallas Kauwaai had 10 goals. Goalkeeper Luis Flores was first in league with a .963 goal against average, and was second in the league in saves, with 84.
If CV advances, they will next play Wednesday, Feb. 22 against either West High School or Bishop Amat.
