The CV Falcons 14U team defeated nationally ranked Tri-City Ballers (13U team) 36-31 to win the Pasadena Rush tournament at Cal Tech College last month.
The team, comprised of seventh and eighth graders from Rosemont Middle School, went undefeated through pool play defeating teams from Orange County, West Los Angeles, and Pasadena.
In the championship game, the Falcons took an 11-point lead at half and hung on to win by 5. Trey Ballard was named MVP of the tournament after sinking four straight free throws to seal the victory. Players included Grady Schilling, Andrew VanGinkle, Kudzai Kachingwe, Jonny Han, Ty Hill, Trey Ballard, Alec Stepanian, Max Meyers, and David Heckman.
The team decided to present principal Dr. Cynthia Livingston with their first place trophy for the support Rosemont has given to the basketball team.
