The CVHS Falcons rolled out the red carpet when they hosted their first scoring Pacific League track and field meet against Hoover and Pasadena on Thursday. Scoring the tri meet as a dual meet resulted in a strong varsity win for the Falcon boys’ and girls’ teams. Like previous years, the Tornadoes and Bulldogs did not have the numbers to fill the 16 events that are needed to maximize their team scoring. Pasadena scored gold in the boys’ 100m and 200m events but unfortunately did not have a varsity girls’ team. Hoover won gold in both the boys’ shot put and discus events but failed to score any gold in the girls’ events.

Many key varsity runners were kept out of the meet as they prepared for the Redondo Distance Carnival on Friday night, said CVHS Head Coach Mark Evans.

“This was a good meet,” said Evans. “It let us give some people a chance to try other events.”

CV’s Artin Allahvardian posted the only triple gold win of the day winning the 1600m (4:48.7), 800m (2:09.4) and 3200m (10:39.38) events.  Falcons Nick Trolongo, Roy Choe and Anthony Zaragoza scored a double win in their events against Hoover. Trolongo won the 100m in 11.24 and the 200m in 23.32; Choe won the long jump posting 19’11. 5 and clearing 6’0 in the high jump while teammate Zaragoza won the 110H 17.77 and the 300H running 44.52.

Fellow Falcon Luke Kang won the triple jump with a 36’ 6.75” ahead of teammate Roy Choe jumping 36’ 4.25” to take second. Falcon sophomore Kevin Tasci won the 400m (55.08) and the Falcon boys brought home the gold in both the 4×100 relay (45.7) and the 4×400 relay (3:47.22).
