Village, CV Baseball Updates

The Village Christian High baseball team improved to 6-1 and 2-0 in the Olympic League with 12-2 win over Valley on Tuesday. Eric Oseguera was the winning pitcher, going five innings, striking out five and allowing five hits. He is now 4-0 overall.

Freshman Aiden Holly, in his only at-bat, had three runs batted in when his hit cleared the bases in the fifth innings.

Tobias Plotkin went 3-for-3 with three RBIs, including doubles. Josh Argarin went 2-for-4 with two RBIs, and senior Jake Whisenant had two hits and two RBIs.

The Crusaders beat Channel Islands on March 9. In that game, Oseguera went 2-for-3 with three RBIs, and Kenny Aceves had a triple and plated two runs.

Oseguera currently has a .58 earned-run average and is first in the league with 34 strikeouts and four wins.

Early in the season, Village is tied with Whittier in league, each with two wins and no losses. The Crusaders’ next game is on Saturday, a home game at Tujunga Little League Field. It will be a double header against non-league opponent St. Genevieve. The first game starts at 11 a.m.

CV Baseball Update

The Falcons baseball team was 3-1 heading into Wednesday’s double-header against Marina High School of Huntington Beach. The team will compete in the annual Babe Herman Tournament at Stengel Field, beginning Saturday at 7 p.m. against Golden Valley. CV is also scheduled for games on Monday and Tuesday during that tournament. The first league game is scheduled for March 28 at Glendale High at 3:30 p.m.
