The Falcons track team faced the Burbank Bulldogs March 31 on Burbank’s new all season track. Facing a strong field of competitors, the Falcons boys and girls team overcame the Bulldogs. The boys won 83-53 and the girls won 79-57.
Stepping up was junior Josh Straschewski who had a day winning a triple victory in 110m HH (15.36), 300m IH hurdles (43.14), and running a solid leg in the 4x400m relay to add another victory point to the score. Junior Levi Walker as well had a successful day with a triple win starting with his participation on the 4x100m relay, the long jump (19’ 9 ½”), and the triple jump (41’ 2 ¾”).
Burbank star, freshman Isaiah Amos-Nshimba, had a dual win both in the 1600m (4:29.6) and 800m (2:03.71). Senior Bob Anderson took second in the 1600m running 4:32.4 and junior Mike Duncan placing third (4:35.4). The 100m was won by James Maturan (10.96) followed by teammate Averill Parker in second (11:34) and Burbank Rodriquez taking third (11:47). Duncan placed second in the 800m (2:04) and teammate Matt Williams was third (2:07.36).
CV’s Parker ran an exceptional 200m race in 22:44 with teammate Maturan taking second (27.80) and Burbank’s Jose Rodriquez in third (23:38). Anderson won the 3200m (10.07.16).
Senior Andrew Roide had another successful high jump, winning at (6’ 4”). Fellow senior Brennen Hicklin took the pole vault in a height of 11’ and Burbank took second and third places.
Burbank tripled in the shot put and discus events. Burbank took second and third place in the long jump and triple jump as well.
CV winning relay team in the 4x100m was Calvin Edwards, Parker, Walker, and Maturan. In the 4x400m CV’s team was composed of Straschewski, Williams, Duncan and Dylan Devens.
The Falcon girls team worked their magic against the Bulldogs winning the first race the 400m Relay (52:07). Falcon senior Anneke Kakebeen had a powerful day winning a triple victory against some strong Burbank runners. She won the 1600m (5:25.08) followed by the 300m LH (49.28) and 3200m (12.10.91).
Burbank star distance runner Mackenzie Paul placed second in the 1600m (5:29.30) followed by CV sophomore Cali King in third place (5:41.26). Burbank Haley Pirriccello won the 100HH (17:02) with CV Laura White taking second (17:76) and Eileen Martin third (18:52).
CV senior Tiernan Hebron had a dual win running the 400m (1:01.13) and the 200m (26:33). Burbank’s Martil took second in the 400 followed by sophomore Heather Robertson (1:04.88).
Falcon Jessica Beerman took advantage of spring break early and was missed at the meet. Burbank’s Diagccello won the 100m (12:61) with CV securing second and third places. Sophomore Noel Wong took second (13:78) freshman Kayleigh Carrillo won third (13:31).
Burbank won second and third places in the 300LH. The Falcons won a triple in the 800m with CV’s King winning first (2:29.40), Diane Lombardi second (2:30.11) and Ali Johnson third (2:31.28).
Falcon senior Maple Jones had a dual victory both in the long jump (14’10”) and triple jump (31’10”).
Burbank won the shot put, discuss, and pole vault events.
