The 46th Annual Arcadia Invitational was held at Arcadia High School on Friday and Saturday. In addition to hosting local and national athletes, the invitational welcomed athletes from as far away as Australia, Canada and New Zealand.
For the Crescenta Valley athletes, it was a time to compare their progress against many of Southern California’s top athletes.
CV’s Emmie Walker participated in the woman’s high jump but was not in her usual form and tied for 14th (4’ 11”). The winning section height of 5’ 5” was captured by Susannah Olesen of Huntington Beach. Erinn Beattie of Buena jumped 5’ 7” and won her section.
The CV men’s 4 x 1600 relay team, comprised of Nick Beatty, Kyle Dickinson, Aaron Esparza, Matt Manalo, ran eighth in their race with a time of 18:13.73. Junior Gabe Collison ran in the rated 3200m placing sixth with lifetime best of 9:18.99.
The team of Megan Melnyk, Rebecca Mencia, Haley Witzeman and Hannah Ruby ran in the woman’s 4 x 1600, placing fourth (21:22.45).
On Saturday afternoon, Beatty competed in the men’s 800m (1:59.26). Fellow Falcon Megan Melnyk ran in the woman’s 800m, placing seventh in the race and eighth overall in daytime 800s at 2:16.26.
Kayleigh Carrillo ran in the individual women’s 200m (26.06) with Schuyler Moore of Oaks Christian taking the win with a time of 24.71. Laura Anuakpado of South Pasadena took second (24.83).
The women’s 4 x 400 relay with Courtney Iannello, Emmie Walker and Kayleigh Carrillo placed third in their race at 3:59.26, a season best for the team. The girls 4 x 400 placed ninth overall in the daytime section of meet.
