The CVHS boys’ baseball team is in the midst of another successful season that could see them reclaim the Pacific League championship after taking a year off. The Falcons were to split their season series with Burroughs on April 29 with a 1-0 victory.
Infielder Ryan Lynch had the game winning hit in the bottom of the seventh inning, and Trevor Beer pitched a complete game. The win came on the heels on a 13-8 loss to the Indians three days prior. CV defeated Glendale on Monday 12-0. They play the Nitros again on Friday.
The Falcons are currently in first place in league with a 10-1 record. They lead Arcadia (9-2) by a game, and the two teams will end the regular season on May 10 at Arcadia and May 13 at Stengel Field. Both game times are set for 7 p.m.
The Falcons this year are led by Lynch, infielder Adrian Damla and pitchers Trevor Beer and Will Smiley, who threw a no-hitter against Muir on April 19. The sophomore struck out nine batters and walked one.
The Lady Falcons’ softball team is in a fight for second place in the Pacific League. CV is 8-3, 12-11 overall, and is currently in third place behind Glendale (9-2) and Burroughs (11-0). The team is riding a three-game losing streak, two of the losses coming to non-league opponents, and most recent to Glendale. The Falcons play Glendale again today, Thursday, at GHS at 3:30 p.m. After that, CV plays Arcadia to end the season on May 9 at CVHS and May 11 at Arcadia.
The Falcons are led by Jessica Yzaguirre and Kendall Ebert.
