The summer basketball league for all Crescenta Valley High School teams has ended as the program looks to take a break before school starts up August. The varsity team finished 16-9 this summer. It went 3-2 in a tournament at UC San Diego in late June before splitting two games in a Sierra Canyon tournament last week.
The junior varsity team went 8-3. It had a busy and tiring last day on June 30 at Burbank High School when it defeated Marshall at 5:30 p.m. before taking on the varsity squad from Glendale immediately after. It was close, but Glendale’s Alex Ramos hit a three-pointer with 12 seconds left to lift the Nitros to a 48-46 victory.
Next up for CV basketball is Coach Z’s Basketball Camp, hosted by varsity Head Coach Shawn Zargarian from July 13 to July 17. The camp is an annual one-week event from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. inside the CV big gym where kids receive instruction on the fundamentals of the game from former Falcon coaches and players, and compete in scrimmages at the end of the day. Campers also receive T-shirts and prizes. Awards are handed out at the end of the week.
