Crescenta Valley High School cross country hosted its third and last Community All Comers Meet for the summer.

“It is a 2K and 5K. [Students], siblings, parents and alums [of CVHS] are welcomed to run,” said Dennis Oliver, assistant coach.

The race is not only for those in the CV area.

“Burbank [High School] was here last time,” he said.

The events are fundraisers for the CVHS cross country program.

“We don’t make a lot [of money] on this, but it is just fun for the runners,” Oliver said.

The entry fee for the race is $5.

Coach Mark Evans made certain his runners warmed up before the hitting the dirt.

The run is a way for new members of the high school team to test their skills and for veteran members to get ready for the new season.

It’s also a chance for the newer athletes to get introduced to racing, Oliver added.

The official school meets begin in September.

But for the few days before school begins, this relaxed 2K and 5K meet was a great way for runners to have fun. The team has been running every morning over the summer at the park and through the community to get ready for the 2013 season.
