The Crescenta Valley High School athletic department has begun releasing the upcoming schedules for the 2010-2011 season. Boys’ water polo, cross-country and football have all announced the important dates this fall.
The boys’ varsity football team will begin the season on the road, facing Verdugo Hills on Friday, Sept. 10. The Falcons will then face St. Francis and La Cañada High at home before marking the start of league play at Glendale. Crescenta Valley will then be visited by Hoover at Moyse Field before heading to Muir to face the Mustangs, who the Falcons edged in ’09 by a score of 21-14.
The end of the Falcons’ schedule will likely be the most difficult, facing Pasadena and Burroughs at home before traveling to Burbank and finishing league play in Arcadia on Nov. 12. Crescenta Valley will look to recreate their success offensively against Pasadena, having put up 38 points in their last meeting.
However, last year it was the Burbank teams that gave the Falcons the most trouble, accounting for both of the league losses in ’09. Crescenta Valley will look to overcome Burroughs who snuck by last year by a score of 14-12. On Nov. 4, the Falcons will look to take some revenge against Burbank High who humbled Crescenta Valley last year, winning 42-14 after putting up 26 unanswered points in the second half.
The Crescenta Valley cross-country team will kick off its fall schedule on Sept.  8 at CV Park. The Falcons will participate in their first league meet on Sept. 23 at Griffith Park. The second league meet will be held at Arcadia park on Oct. 14. League play will come to an end on Nov. 4 at CV Park.
Starting Nov. 13, Mt. Sac will be the site of the preliminary CIF meet with the finals to be held a week later on Nov. 20. The state championships will be held on Nov. 27 at Woodward Park in Fresno.
The boys’ water polo team will see its season start against Thousand Oaks High School on Sept. 8 before participating in the Thousand Oaks tournament on Sept. 10 and 11. League play will begin on Oct. 7 at home against Burroughs and continue two days later on the road against Burbank High.
The Falcons will then head to Muir before returning to La Crescenta to face Hoover. Crescenta Valley will then travel to face rivals Glendale before returning to play its final home game of the season against Pasadena. The regular season ends on Oct.  27 with an away game at Arcadia High.
League playoffs will be held on Nov.  2 in Burbank with the finals to be held on Nov. 4.
