Coaches and parents celebrated CSA La Crescenta Thunder’s 14U performances in seven tournaments, having finished third in both single elimination tournaments in Alisa Viejo and Sylmar and second in both district and state competitions. The team did not lose until the championship games.
Thunder took home victories both in Arcadia and Covina tournaments and qualified for the State Games of America, also known as the California Junior Olympics that took place in San Diego Aug. 4 through Aug. 7. Thunder not only played in a 16-team tournament with the best of the best teams from all of California with some representation from Nevada, but also marched in the “parade of athletes” at the San Diego’s Qualcomm Stadium. The team was acknowledged with athletes from 21 other sports – a once in a life time experience. Thunder ended up placing fourth.
