The second and final round of the inaugural Glendale City Golf Championship presented by the Local Trusted Choice Agents took place on Aug. 27 at the Oakmont Country Club.
The field of 88 players from the first day of play on Aug. 22 at Scholl Canyon Country Club was reduced to 40 golfers that competed in four flights.
Jon Levitt of Covina won the championship flight. He defeated Glendale resident and Stevenson Real Estate agent Kris Hons on the fourth playoff hole by draining an 18-foot birdie putt on the par three 16th hole.
Jerry Butt, a Glendale resident, won the Deukmejian Flight with a two-day net score of 133.
The Verdugo Flight was won by James Hansen with a two-day net total of 132 and the Brand Flight was captured by Robert Bartshe who shot a two-day net score of 131.
The women’s flight was won by Arica Rodriguez, who is a member of the Whittier College golf team.
The net flights were based on low GHIN index over the past 12 months and each flight was named after local Glendale area parks.
Tournament Chairman Rick Dinger said, “We could not ask for a better day or course conditions. The Parks and Open Space Foundation, which benefited from the event, is extremely grateful to the Local Trusted Choice Agents and the Oakmont membership. Without their contributions, an event of this caliber would not have been possible.”
