CV takes on Arcadia in first meet

The Crescenta Valley boys and girls cross-country team has had to dig deep for new team leaders. In their quest to meet the challenge to  replace  Zack Torres, Michelle Callister, and Claudia Pham, sophomores Mike Duncan and Claudia Pham have stepped up to assist the 2009 team.  Coach Mark Evans, feeling the pains of rebuilding his team after losing his top seniors, has had to settle with individual performances while creating new partnerships. achieved a sweep both in the boys and girls cross country meet.  First place runner CIF Ammar Moussa from Arcadia ran 15:20.53 while his teammates taking second, fourth and fifth places. CV’s Mike Duncan, who placed sixth, was the first CV runner who ran a time of 15:53.22. The CV boys placed fourth in the overall standings. The girls’ varsity team winner was won CIF leader Catrina McAlister with a time of 18:50.25 followed by CV’s Claudia Pham who placed second with a time of 19:01.47 and Anneke Kakebeen who placed eleventh with a time of 20:05.06.
