On Saturday, Oct. 22, the Crescenta Valley Falcons cross-country team traveled to Mount San Antonio College for the 74th annual running of the Mt. SAC cross-country invite. Over two days the meet saw 13,000 runners compete from 500 schools.
Falcon senior Parker Simmons came away with the fastest time of the meet running the fabled course in 14:46 leading the Falcons to a third place finish behind top seeded San Clemente and second seeded Great Oak in the boys Division 1-2 Team Sweepstakes Race. Crescenta Valley boys finished third overall in the entire two-day meet.
Simmons was joined by Harrison Connors who placed 17th in 15:29, Jamie Cartnal, 29th in 15:41, Josh Chambers, 38th in 15:51, Eddie Sion, 52nd in 16:01, Liam Zadoorian, 62nd in 16:11 and Ryan Becker, 76th in 16:27.
Crescenta Valley boys’ cross-country team is ranked third in Division 1 Southern Section and third in state Division 1 and fifth in the state regardless of division.
In the girls’ varsity race, junior Ava Martin led the way in a third place team finish. Martin finished second in the race at 18:44, with Emilia Greenway seventh in 10:02, Emma Haworth, 11th in 19:18, Julia Linney, 53rd in 21:02, Madeleine Cho, 55th in 21:04 and Samantha Talbot 56th in 21:06.
The Falcons are back in action on Thursday, Nov. 3 at Arcadia Park for the Pacific League finals. Races start at 2 p.m. with the varsity girls at 3:30 p.m. and the varsity boys at 4 p.m. Frosh/soph, JV and varsity boys and girls are in contention to sweep League finals by winning all divisions.
