St. Francis (11-0) vs La Serna (9-2)
Facts: Kick-off at La Serna (California High School) is at 7 p.m. This is the quarterfinal game for the CIF Southeast Division championship. St. Francis finished in first place in the Angelus League and is the number one seed. La Serna finished second in the Del Rio League. St. Francis finished the regular season ranked 1st in the CIF SS Southeast Division poll. La Serna is ranked sixth.
The game will be played at California High School (9800 Mills Ave, Whittier). This is the first meeting between the two schools.
La Serna is the defending CIF Southeast Champion.
Round one: St. Francis beat Mayfair 49-14 at home and La Serna beat Dominguez 24-21 at home last week.
Defending champions: La Serna is the defending CIF Southeast Champion.
League champs: St. Francis earned its first league crown since 1997 (when it claimed the Mission League title) and first undefeated season since 1964.
Coach Jim Bonds says: “I thought we came out hitting on all cylinders in the first half and we were able to finish the game strong. I am proud of the guys and their effort. We know La Serna is a real good and well coached team and we need to bring our best this Friday.”
