The Providence Pioneer Shootout semifinal game saw the Prep Varsity Girls rise to the occasion against formidable San Gabriel and get a hard fought 58-47 victory. The Rebels were led by Tala Ismail and Renae Tamura, who both had a game high 13 points apiece. The game was tight from the onset, but the Rebels were able to build a 30-18 halftime lead. Prep remained poised against the scrappy defense of San Gabriel and fought off a third quarter run that saw the Rebel lead cut to just one.
Dec. 14, Providence Tournament

The Prep varsity girls won the 17th Annual Pioneer Shootout tournament. What an exciting championship game to be a part of. The Lady Rebels made some adjustments and took over in the final quarter and held Providence to seven points. Tournament MVP Maya Okamoto scored a game high 19 points and Tala Ismail for being selected to the All-Tournament Team. Prep’s record improved to 6-0.

The Prep Girls Varsity suffered their first loss of the season. Lacy Coan lead the way with a gutsy performance leading Prep with 19 points. Tala Ismail also chipped in 15 points.

Prep’s Ari Baranian started the scoring with a finish off a rebound. Tim Bates followed with a well-placed shot off an assist by Bryce Delgado. In the second half, Riley Jones got into the scoring column with a header off a Cole Rademacher corner kick. Hamilton Evans had three saves on the day for the shutout.
