With the winter break upon Glendale area schools, it’s tournament time for both the Crescenta Valley boys and girls’ varsity basketball teams. Both squads were off for the beginning of the week as final exams took precedent, but today the boys’ team will be back at it at Burbank High to take on the Bulldogs at 7 p.m. After today, the Falcons will play the South Pasadena Christmas Tournament from Dec. 26 to Dec. 30. The games will take place at Alemany High and Bell Jeff High School. The game on Dec. 26 will tip off at 3:30 p.m.
CV will resume Pacific League action on Jan. 3 when the Falcons host the Muir Mustangs at 7 p.m. Last Friday, in a league tilt against Burroughs, the Falcons won 62-52 behind senior guard Tyler Carlson’s 42 points. The Falcons are 8-2 overall, 1-1 in league. They previously lost to Pasadena on Dec. 10.
For the girls, they will also play at Burbank today, at 5:30 p.m., before tournaments of their own. They return to league action when they host Muir on Jan. 3 at 5:30 p.m. CV is currently 8-5 overall, and 0-2 in league, having lost to Pasadena and Burroughs. The team this is carrying on without captains Caity Bouchard and Georgina Kregorian who graduated, but they have Denise Dayag, a senior guard whose sister Rachel was on the team a couple of seasons ago.
