Glendale G19 girls brought home another first place title to Glendale earned over the Thanksgiving break.
The journey began at 7 a.m. on Nov. 23 with check in followed by an 8 a.m. game against El Monte, the state champions. Glendale put the pressure on early and was soon rewarded by a 2-0 victory. This moved the team to the top of the table.
Game 2 was Friday afternoon when Glendale played tough opponent Burbank. The ensuing battle ended after 60 minutes with both teams leaving the field with a 0-0 tie.
An early Saturday morning game proved to be an easy victory over Quartz Hills with Glendale 5-0. The win moved Glendale into the finals match on Sunday afternoon.
Glendale met their former rival Burbank back on the field on Sunday. The game was tougher and more physical than their first meeting and two red cards were handed during the match, sending one player from each team to the stands.
Glendale put in a strong performance and won the championship match 2-1.
