It’s almost time for league season to begin in high school sports, including for teams in the foothill area. Here’s a look at how some of the teams are faring so far in pre-league play:

The Crescenta Valley boys’ basketball team was 4-2 heading into Tuesday’s action in the San Fernando Valley tournament. The boys defeated North Hollywood on Saturday 68-44 and Granada Hills on Monday 73-67. Action in the tournament ended on Wednesday. The Falcons next play at the D1 Bound tournament Dec. 27 through Dec. 30. Those games will be held at Maranatha High and Dorsey High. Crescenta Valley begins Pacific League action Jan. 3 at Burbank High School against the Bulldogs.

The Falcon boys’ frosh-soph team claimed first place at the Verdugo Hills Holiday Classic tournament with a 69-61 win over Burroughs High on Monday.

The boys’ program is hosting a fundraiser on Jan. 4 at The Habit Burger Grill in La Cañada, 990 Town Center Dr., from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m.

The CV girls’ team, defending CIF champions, are 6-2 so far this season. The team was handed a 64-33 loss to Mark Keppel High School on Dec. 10.

The CV boys’ soccer team is 7-3 after beating West Ranch 4-1 on Monday. Senior Henry Barkhordarian has recorded 10 goals and 21 point so far. Ryan Sanfilippo, Jonathan Han and Dallas Kaauwai are next with three goals each. Coach Grant Clark’s team will play in the CV Winter Classic from Dec. 27 to Dec. 30. The first game on Dec. 27 is against Royal at 9 a.m.

The Lady Falcons soccer team is 6-2 after defeating Mayfair on Dec. 17 3-2. Brianna McReynolds leads the team with 10 goals and 24 points. The Falcons begin league play on Jan. 3 when they host Burbank at 3:15 p.m.

The Flintridge Prep boys’ basketball team is 2-3 after its 62-20 loss at San Marino High School on Monday. The Rebels’ Jake Althouse had 19 points and 14 rebounds in a losing effort. The Rebels next play on Dec. 27 in the Santa Barbara Holiday Tournament at 1:30 p.m.

The Lady Rebels were 6-1 heading into Tuesday’s game with Temple City. The Rebels beat Flintridge Sacred Heart 49-40 on Dec. 15. Rena Tamura is the early leader in stats for the team, averaging 15.5 points and 6.2 rebounds per game.

The Village Christian girls’ basketball team completed action in the El Camino Tournament this week. The girls beat Agoura Tuesday night 57-54, improving the girls’ record to 13-1 overall. The team features key players returning from last year such as Micaela Cacho-Negrete and Mercy Odima. VC moved up to Division IV in the CIF Southern Section this year. Last year it played in the CIF Division 5AA champion game in Sacramento, where it lost to Eastside College Prep.

The Village boys defeated Viewpoint 69-56 on Tuesday, improving their record to 8-1. The Crusaders next play on Dec. 27 against Reseda at 8 p.m. in the Village Christian Holiday Tournament.
