LA County Dept. of Public Works Provides Updates at recent Council Meeting
At its recent January meeting, the Crescenta Valley Town Council (CVTC) received several important updates from the LA County Dept. of Public Works aimed at improving pedestrian safety and traffic concerns around our schools. Among the key topics discussed were plans for crosswalk improvements near Rosemont Middle School and enhanced speed control measures near CV High School.
The CVTC Streets and Transportation team has been actively working with the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Dept. – CV Station and the California Highway Patrol to address ongoing speed concerns throughout Crescenta Valley. These collaborations aim to identify high-risk areas and implement targeted measures to mitigate speeding issues and make our community safer for drivers, cyclists and pedestrians.
By partnering with law enforcement and the County, we’re taking a proactive approach to manage speed on our streets. It’s a community-wide effort and we appreciate the cooperation of our local agencies and residents. This has been a long road and CVTC is thankful for the commitment from LA County to hear the concerns of the community.
Looking ahead, Crescenta Valley is gearing up for the much-anticipated Hometown Country Fair scheduled for April 26 at CV Park. This annual event promises a day full of family-friendly activities including a classic car show, a lively dog parade, a pie-eating contest and many other attractions designed to bring the community together.
CVTC Land Use Committee member Ines Chessum has announced her step down from the volunteer position. Ines has been an integral part of LUC since 2014. Her dedication to our community has been instrumental in working alongside LA County Dept. of Regional Planning for input on state mandated development, building projects and community standards guidelines for those of us residing here now and for future generations. We thank her for her years of commitment to our community.
The next general meeting is set for Thursday, Feb. 20 at 7 p.m. in the La Crescenta Library community room, 2809 Foothill Blvd. We encourage you to attend.
