Last week the Crescenta Valley Town Council announced a $1 million plan, funded by Los Angeles County Supervisor Michael Antonovich, to improve Foothill Boulevard from Pennsylvania to Briggs avenues. The Foothill Beautification Project team, including local business owners, CV Chamber of Commerce, CV Town Council, community members, and Los Angeles County Public Works, has been working together for nearly a year. L.A. Public Works has been very supportive of the community through this process.
In a few weeks the CV Town Council and Los Angeles County Public Works will present to the community the conceptual plans for this Foothill Beautification Project. La Crescenta has a long history of community supported enhancements and this is another joint effort to improve our residents’ quality of life. As more information becomes available, the CV Town Council website will include ongoing updates. You are invited to attend the community outreach meeting on Wednesday, April 27 at 6:30 p.m. at the La Crescenta Library (2809 Foothill Blvd.) in the community room. Designs and pictures will be available, and staff will be available to answer all questions.
The CV Town Council has been very busy this election season bringing supervisor candidates to the community. Thanks to the hard work of Mike Claessens, the Council has already hosted Mitchell Englander and Robert Huff at the monthly CVTC meetings (third Thursday of the month at 7 p.m. in the La Crescenta Library). On April 21, we are pleased to present Ara Najarian and Elan Carr. Kathryn Barger will join us on May 19. The candidates are making an effort to connect to our community and learn about life in the Foothills.
The Crescenta Valley’s Fifth Annual Prayer Breakfast is fast approaching on Saturday, April 23 at 9 a.m. at Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (4550 Raymond Ave.). Carmen Trutanich, former L.A. City attorney, will be the keynote speaker with music from CVHS Charismatics and Rosemont jazz band. Please join us for a morning of prayer as we celebrate the youth in our community. Adult tickets are $10/youth are free and tickets are available at CV Weekly offices (3800 La Crescenta Ave. #101).
