LETTERS TO THE EDITOR

Happy Birthday, America – Land of the Free and Home of the Very Brave

We’re back with our second year at Crescenta Valley High School with a spectacular July 4th fireworks show for the community! Being an all-volunteer organization, we want to keep this family event affordable and thank the many people in our community, along with some great sponsors, for assisting with the cost. We also thank the many volunteers who help us. But the cost of putting on the show is very expensive and we can always use more help.

A main objective of CV Fireworks is to provide a safe fireworks environment with the hope that there will be no home fireworks or injuries. It’s a night of family fun, maybe a reunion or two from the past. It’s a night for celebration, not trips to the hospital.

This year we will have seven great food trucks parked on Ramsdell Avenue by the entrance to the school field. The high school parking lot will be set up with tables and chairs for eating food purchased from the food trucks or to enjoy food brought from home. Note that we can only allow water on the field because CVHS has artificial turf and we want it to stay in good shape so we can come back next year.

The field will have bleacher seats, but we suggest folks bring blankets. Maybe a pillow? If there is a handicap challenge, please let us know and we will do our best to assist.

There will be inflatable rides for the kids and some face painting to also get children, and adults, in the celebrating mood. Glow sticks? Yes, we have those available. Live entertainment will be provided by Eli Locke and Mike Perry, both very lively people. Our national anthem will be sung by CV graduating student Annie Blood. Watch for some fireworks during this.

The fireworks, provided by Fireworks America, will again be choreographed to music. Our own special pyro and CV graduate “Hutch” will be firing those starbursts high enough for those home parties participants to see.

We hope you enjoy this year’s show, either at the site or from the hills. Pre-sale tickets are $7 and available at the CV Chamber of Commerce, CV Insurance, CV Weekly, J’s Maintenance, Bob Smith Toyota and JR Hardware, Sash & Door. Kids 7 and under and active military are always free. Tickets on July 4th are $10, but we still offer our carhop drive-through ticket booth for purchasing from noon to 3 p.m. Gates will open at 4 p.m.

See you at CV on July 4th!
