News from the CVTC

Summer is Almost Here!

This year’s high school and college graduates have accomplished a lot during particularly difficult circumstances. After all the challenges they have faced, it is finally time to celebrate!

Hearty congratulations to the Class of 2022 at Crescenta Valley High School! The CV Town Council scholarship recipients from our community are Peter Chiwoon Lee, Ashley Park, Roan Thibault, Maneh Davityan, Freddie Ireland and Erin Hong.

On Memorial Day, I was grateful to be at Two Strike Park for the annual tribute to veterans and military families that honors those who have served and died for our country and county. Every day, we must renew our promise to serve those who have served. The lives of our veterans are precious – and in order to pay tribute to the lives of those we have lost we must remember our commitment to uplift those who are still with us. Thank you, VFW /American Legion members, and to everyone who joined us for this celebration and tribute!

The Dept. of Parks and Recreation has summer fun in store for everyone. No matter your age or experience level, there is a class for you. Learn to play guitar, make a pizza, develop a video game, perform improv, meditate, paint with watercolors and more! Find a summer class at https://parks.lacounty.gov.

On Wednesday, June 29, the Crescenta Valley Town Council Outreach Committee/Street & Road Committee will hold a public forum to learn how to create safer traffic conditions and safer routes to school. The meeting will be at 7 p.m. at the La Crescenta Library community room, 2809 Foothill Blvd.

On June 25, the Crescenta Valley Town Council Outreach Committee, in collaboration with Burrtec Waste Services, will hold a mulch distribution and e-waste collection day at Two Strike Park from 8 a.m. to noon.

Crescenta Valley Town Council designates the month of June as LGBTQIA+ Pride Month and urges everyone to recognize the contributions made by members of the LGBTQIA+ community and to actively promote the principles of equality, liberty and justice. The Crescenta Valley models, advocates, actively supports and promotes the inclusive and respectful treatment of all its community members.

As always, I look forward to seeing you at our June 16 general meeting starting at 7 p.m. in the community room of the La Crescenta Library. Please contact CVTC at contact@thecvcouncil.com.
