Responds to Recall Article
[In response to Aug. 5 article “Understanding the Gubernatorial Recall”], the appropriate time and method to express dissatisfaction with Governor Newsom is by the scheduled election at the end of his term in November 2023, a mere 14 months away from the recall election. This recall is a gigantic waste of money, with no qualified candidate likely to replace him.

Crescenta Valley Vaccination Success
While discussing mandating vaccinations at last week’s meeting, the Glendale City Council reviewed current numbers. It turns out that the Crescenta Valley is a countywide leader in getting vaccinated. As of Aug. 1, here are the percentages of residents in La Crescenta-Montrose, LA County and Glendale who have received at least one shot:

Everybody (residents aged 16 and over): La Crescenta-Montrose 75%, LA County 71% and Glendale 60.4 %.

The most vulnerable (residents aged 65 and over): La Crescenta-Montrose 91.5%, LA County 89% and Glendale 73%.

The Council also reviewed numbers that impact our schools in La Crescenta-Montrose and Glendale. Remember: young people must be at least 12 to be vaccinated. Here are the percentages of people 12 to 17 who have received at least one jab in the arm:

Our precious youth (students aged 12 to 17): La Crescenta-Montrose 93.8% and Glendale 44.6%.

Pat yourself on the back. The Crescenta Valley community has responded well and is a vaccination leader in LA County. And if you have any questions about the efficacy of the COVID-19 vaccines, check with your family doctor.
