Applauds Observations

Kudos to Sara Quan for identifying deficiencies in the existing trail system at Two Strike Park (CV Weekly article “New Ramp Not Useful For Everyone,” Sept. 16). These are exactly the types of suggestions that should be made in the context of overall improvements to the Eagle Channel at the Town Council’s upcoming forum.

Criticizes CVWD, Protests Rate Increase

I regret I am not able to figure out how to protest against the three-year rate increase following the instructions on [the CVWD] website, and the Zoom meeting ID listed on [its] website for the public hearing is not valid so please consider this letter my protest.

Surely CVWD has been collecting funds from its customers since the 1950s and has a well-established and responsibly invested reserve for infrastructure maintenance. Accordingly, major updates and bill increases to current customers for these purposes are inappropriate.

I suppose my current water bill includes an amount for maintenance reserves going forward, making a further increase for this purpose unnecessary.

If either of these is not the case, the water board is not doing its job and should be replaced immediately. Appropriate guidelines for future operations should be established and followed. And an inquiry into the historical situation should be undertaken with the responsible parties held financially (and criminally) accountable. I cannot afford to subsidize customers that have benefited from the water system for the past 70 years!
