LETTERS TO THE EDITOR

Letter to a Best Friend

Dearest friend: We have only known each other for about 10 years. We think so much alike about issues and situations that we many times just smile and laugh in recognition. There has been one barrier in our relationship and that is our political divide. This is what has happened to much of our country. It has divided families as well as friends. This is so unfortunate since we are all Americans.

I have seen anger and hatred from people who are normally loving and respectful. I believe that this has all been created by enemies of American culture and our freedoms guaranteed by our Constitution. They are trying to destroy our country for the sake of power over the people. This process has been going on for decades.  They have influenced the minds of our children; questioned our religious values; and are now offering free benefits by government control to run our lives. My friends, there is a price to pay for these promises and that is our freedoms!

I have been critical of government for years – mismanagement of finances; excessive costs to the people; taking care of their own instead of the people they represent. The larger [the] government [the] more costs expected from the people.  Government should legislate, protect and insure our freedoms. But our Constitution protects our freedoms so valuable to all Americans. It stops government from taking over our lives. That is what we will be determining in the upcoming election!

It is not about personalities President Trump or Vice President Biden. It is so much deeper than that. It’s about keeping our Constitution or another concept of government: democracy or socialism/Marxism.

It is disgraceful to see our broken two political party system dividing our country.  Our news media no longer reports the complete non-bias news. It is a shame that we cannot trust the media.

It is a shame that love is not more present in our daily lives.
