LETTERs TO THE EDITOR

No Oktoberfest Refuse was Found
Early Sunday morning I headed to Montrose to do my daily caretaker chores at the Vietnam memorial [at Honolulu and Ocean View]. This was the morning after Oktoberfest. Over 35,000 revelers had been celebrating along Honolulu Avenue just a few hours before. I was not looking forward to what I expected to find.

Yet, as I looked around, most trash receptacles had been emptied and hardly any litter could be found in the street, along the sidewalks, and in the landscape areas.

My thanks to those Montrose Chamber board members who stayed and helped pick up at the end of the event. But also deserving of recognition is Chris Waldheim and his crew from J’s Maintenance who picked up litter throughout the event and stayed until the wee hours of Sunday morning making sure Montrose looked as though nothing had ever happened. Thank you Chris!

The Waldheim Family and J’s Maintenance deserve our appreciation and thanks.
