Congratulations for a Race Well Run
I want to congratulate all six candidates who ran for the Crescenta Valley Town Council (elections were held last Friday evening and all day Saturday). It’s a responsibility taken seriously. Everyone who ran won a seat as there were, as usual, three regular three-year terms and three alternate one-year terms up for grabs. I am particularly thankful for being re-elected to the town council in a regular three-year term. This is an honor and I am grateful to everyone who voted.
My fellow elected town council candidates are Donna Libra, Aram Ordubegian, Ted Yu, Jeffrey Rodriguez and Ruben Gonzalez. I look forward to working with them in the coming year. In particular, I want to single out the challengers who have joined the council: Ted Yu and Ruben Gonzalez. I always welcome new energy.
Next, I want to thank the Election Committee and, in particular, Election Committee Co-Chairs Sophal Ear and Daniel Kim. Carin Hoffman was on the committee and helped tremendously. But most of all, the indefatigable and selfless Cheryl Davis who spent Friday evening and all day Saturday at the ballot box, ensuring the process was above reproach. The council is always in your debt, Cheryl. Thank you all for a job well done, Sophal, Daniel, Carin and Cheryl!
On Veterans Day, Monday, Nov. 11, I was with the Veterans of Foreign Wars/American Legion at Two Strike park where dignitaries and community leaders joined in honoring our veterans in a Veterans Day ceremony. As a veteran myself, I take special pride in this day. Semper fi and thank you for your service.
Finally, before encouraging everyone to join us at the next general meeting of the town council on Thursday, Nov. 21 at 7 p.m. in the community room of the La Crescenta Library (2809 Foothill Blvd., La Crescenta), I want to wish you a very Happy Thanksgiving and safe holidays.
Harry Leon is president of the Crescenta Valley Town Council.
