Revving up for the holidays

From the desk of the publisher Robin Goldsworthy

I write this with a comfortably full tummy. For us, the Thanksgiving celebration lasted four days and was definitely a time to be thankful. We hosted family and friends not only for the grand dinner on Thursday, but again on Sunday to celebrate the 18th birthday of our youngest. Yes, time does fly by.

On Saturday was another chance to remember why I’m so fortunate. I received a birthday gift certificate from my sons for a massage over at Tuscany Spa and on Saturday I cashed it in. What a wonderful respite! And how lucky are we in the foothill community that we have a couple of terrific choices for massage. Hint: spa certificates make great gifts.

Before our son’s birthday celebration on Sunday, I was stationed at the Harvest Market in the Prom Plus/CV Weekly booth. Sitting with the breeze kicking up under pretty clear skies, I was again reminded how blessed I am to be living in such a great community. Folks dropped by to say “hi,” or to learn about the holiday home tour that Prom Plus is hosting Dec. 11 (tickets just $25 and on sale here at the CV Weekly office). But talk of course turned to the Montrose Christmas parade this Saturday.

It seems that everyone plans on either being in the parade or on the side lines, waving to the participants. You can count on us here at the CV Weekly to be proudly perched in my son’s truck, waving to everyone along Honolulu Avenue.

And before the parade, between 4 and 5:30 p.m., stop by our office window at the corner of La Crescenta and Honolulu avenues – we’ll  have cider and cookies waiting for you!
