With All Best Wishes for the Holidays and New Year!

Dear Crescenta Valley Friends,
Let me start this month’s column by congratulating all seven candidates who ran in the Nov. 13-14 Crescenta Valley Town Council election. We had a tremendous turnout with 468 votes counted spread over 287 voters … so many in fact that we had to run out and print additional ballots!

The results for the 2020 election, as certified by Election Committee Co-Chair Harry Leon, Co-Chair Aram Ordubegian and Co-Chair Sophal Ear, are: Christopher Kilpatrick who captured 25% of the vote, Jeffery Rodriguez with 19%, Kerri Lewin with 17.9%, Johnny Brookbank with 12.8%, Jo Ann Stupakis with 10.4%, and Ted Yu with 9.4%.

I look forward to working with the newly-elected and returning members of the Town Council to make the Crescenta Valley fulfill its potential as “A Community That Cares.”

But first some thanks are due, foremost to Election Committee and to Councilmember Donna Libra and her husband Bob, Paul Barnes and Ines Chessum for helping with the election.

Los Angeles County launched a new COVID-19 home test collection program, which allows residents to access free testing from the comfort of home. The program will run from now through Jan. 15, 2021. This innovative effort aims to address the current surge in demand for testing and reduce the spread of COVID-19 during the holiday season. You can have a testing kit mailed to your home if you have COVID-19 symptoms, were recently in close contact with someone who has COVID-19, are suspected of having it or are a senior or person with disabilities who feels you were exposed to COVID-19 but are unable to go to a testing site. The week before Thanksgiving, nearly half a million regular tests were performed in Los Angeles County. We hope this new testing format provides convenient, quick responses for our communities.

The Crescenta Valley Town Council hopes you, your family and friends have a lovely holiday season filled with joy and meaning. The best part of this time of year is remembering those who make the holidays meaningful.
We wish you all the love and happiness this season can bring, and may it follow you throughout the coming new year.

As gifts are given and received this holiday season, we think of the gift of knowing you. Thank you for the pleasure of being citizens of our community that cares, La Crescenta and Montrose.

And lastly, do not forget our monthly Town Council meetings. For those who have an interest in attending and participating in our virtual meetings and want to submit comments and/or questions, we encourage you to please contact CVTC at contact@thecvcouncil.com.

Stay safe, be healthy.

Harry Leon, President
