Thanks from the PPC
The Crescenta Valley High School Prom Plus Club kids can be seen at many events; they are the first to come, the last to leave and they carry all the tables. After all, that is our club motto.
This year we have done some pretty memorable things. We dressed up as people from different eras for the Montrose Car Show, we dressed up again for the Montrose movie night as characters from “Hook” and “Jumanji” and we pulled an epic all-nighter for the Foothills Relay for Life.
Each year we volunteer at our traditional events including Hometown Country Fair, Taste of Montrose, Foothills Relay for Life, Montrose Car Show, California Council of the Blind Mutt Strut and the Montrose Christmas Parade. We also volunteered at the Haunted Jail.
Each year we get more volunteer opportunities like this year’s Two Strike Park Winter Wonderland. There were bounce houses, booths, Santa and a lot of snow. It was so much fun – not just for those who attended but for PPC kids. We can’t wait to help again next year.
I speak for all of the Prom Plus Club members and myself when I say that we could not have done any of our events without the love and support from the community. Throughout all this community service we have gotten to know some key people in this town and we are all grateful to be a part of their events and work with them. There have been multiple times when our volunteer mentor tells us there is an event the next day and, for some reason, we don’t get a response from the kids until we tell them it’s for Steve Pierce, Dwight “The Car Guy” Sityar, Jean Maluccio, Chris Waldheim or Able Garnica, Los Angeles Parks and Rec. All of a sudden we have more kids than we can handle.
This club would personally like to thank everyone in the community who has made 2015 such a special year filled with laughter, hard work and, of course, some sort of costume.
We would also like to thank those who have supported us including the Crescenta Cañada Lions Club, Montrose-La Crescenta Kiwanis, American Legion, VFW, Montrose-Verdugo Chamber of Commerce, Crescenta Valley Chamber of Commerce and the Crescenta Valley Sheriff’s Station.
We can’t wait for what lies ahead in 2016 and to keep working with the people from this awesome area.
As president of PPC I would like to thank all the members of the club for your support and dedication.
Happy Holidays and I can’t wait for next year.
